September Re-Opening Letter

Dear Parent/Guardian

Following the announcement last week from the Secretary of State for Education, we are continuing to finalise our plans for next year. We hope to be able to convey these fully to you before we break up.  However, these plans are based on the requirement that we continue to stay out of lockdown in this area. I appreciate that there is going to be a huge amount of information to convey to you, with that in mind, I am planning to put a video together explaining the changes and publish this on the website and/or see-saw before the end of term.

Class Organisation

  • All children will return to school on Thursday 3rd (Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd September are INSET days.)
  • Classes will operate as pods and children will not mix with other pods.
  • Children are not expected to socially distance within their pod.

Wraparound Care

There will be no wrap around care for the first few weeks in September. We are aiming to provide an afterschool club from the w/c 14th September. We will not be able to offer a flexible pick up time – all children will need to be collected at 5:00 pm and not before. We hope to commence a breakfast club shortly afterwards. More details on this will follow.

We will return to full uniform when we return in September. Jumpers and cardigans do not need to have the school logo on, but do need to be blue.

The children will be encouraged to wash their hands thoroughly and regularly throughout the day. They will also have access to hand sanitiser in their classrooms. Staff will be using anti-bacterial spray regularly to wipe down surfaces and handles. We will remind the children to catch their sneezes in tissues and to cough into their elbows. Staff will be vigilant in spotting any potential coronavirus symptoms.

As previously mentioned, I am planning to record a video explaining the changes we have made. If you have any questions you would like me to answer  during this video, can you please email them to with the subject heading -  video questions. I will attempt to tie these questions into the video where possible. If you can send your questions by Friday 10th July 2020 please.

Yours sincerely
